City Commissions

The City of South El Monte has four standing advisory commissions: Advancement of Women & Girls, Community Services, Patriotic, and Planning. Each commission consists of residents appointed by the City Council to serve a term of one year.

Now Accepting Applications to Serve on City Commission

The City of South El Monte is accepting applications from interested residents wishing to serve on the Commission for the Advancement of Women and Girls. Applications are now being accepted from January 25, 2023 through March 2, 2023.  Deadline is Thursday, March 2, 2023, by 5:30 p.m.  For information on how to apply, please view Notice of Vacancy and Application to Serve on City Commission


Commission Facts

  • Commissioners are appointed by the City Council when vacancies occur. 
  • Commissioners serve a term of one year.
  • Compensation for the following commissions: Community Services ($100), Patriotic ($100), and Planning ($150), each month in which each commissioner attends at least one meeting.
  • Elected officials and employees of the City of South El Monte are not eligible to serve on any commission.
